The scale armor is a primitive or early form of armor consisting of small scales or plates sewn together several different forms in a garment of cloth or leather in overlapping rows. This armor was used by warriors in many different cultures, as well as for war horses. The material used to make the scales varied greatly, and included bronze, iron, wood, fur, leather, even seeds.
