1780000100 Auxiliary brass infantry helmet

"The original of this replica is a find from the archaeological site of Niederbieber, the remains of a Roman auxiliary-fort near the Upper Germany-Raetian Limes on the Wied, a tributary of the Rhein.

Helme of this type was probably both infantry as of cavalry during the 2nd-3rd century N.

Chr.

This type of helmet is characterized particularly by its integral protection without significant deterioration of the hearing and the field of vision.

The fins of the cheeks, generously cut, cover the area of the temples, the cheeks and the chin, and are hooked together in the front part of a pin.

The hood of the helmet itself is reinforced by upper ribs in its structure.

The neck is protected by a 9 cm wide screen separately, as well as the forehead.

The points at the corner points of the ribs, as well as on the front screen, were probably intended to distract the opponent"s blows.
