The Böker Manufaktur Paua 140554 is a high-quality straight razor. Böker has been manufacturing straight razors for over a hundred years and has an excellent reputation in this field. This straight razor is made in the Böker workshop in Solingen, Germany.
This straight razor has an extra hollow sharpening with a ridge. Full hollowing gives it an extremely fine edge that is also a bit flexible. This razor is awesome to work with, but might not be as suitable for a full beard. The ridge ensures that the spine of the blade is thick enough to be blocked by the handle. In addition, the spine provides support in determining the correct sharpening angle while seating and sharpening.
This knife is enhanced with a French point and the tang behind the edge is enhanced with grip serrations on both sides. The handle is paua, a type of mother-of-pearl from New Zealand. Very elegant!
Solingen 1.2510 carbon steel
Böker has used 1.2510 carbon steel for this knife. Although the technical number 1.2510 means little to most, many have heard of the famous O1 steel. After sharpening, it is razor sharp, allowing you to achieve even smoother and more comfortable results.
