MEDIEVAL MACE N17100

The mace is one of the hardest and most primitive weapons that accompanied man since prehistoric times. It was sometimes used in ceremonies as a symbol of power. It began as a very simple weapon, with stone heads sometimes polished, sharpened and carved. They were even used by the pharaohs in ancient Egypt. From this period are the "ceremonial mace heads" of Horus Scorpion, predynastic ruler, and of Narmer, the first pharaoh of Ancient Egypt. They fell into disuse in the Greco-Roman period until the arrival of the barbarians who returned to use them, even with two hands.

It had its splendor again in the Middle Ages where they became specialized and metallic weapons. They became "parade" weapons, ceremonial insignia and symbol of power of kings, emperors and the high ecclesiastical hierarchy.

This excellent design has 6 edges and is made of steel with a black rust protection coating. The bottom of the handle is wrapped in black leather for a better grip.
