Persian Scimitar

The original scimitar was called a shamshir (meaning ‘lion's tail’) and had a highly curved blade that almost formed a semicircle. Developed in Persia, this type of blade was effective for sweeping cuts, but apart from that, its usefulness was limited. This led to the blade being redesigned to create a more useful version, such as the one in our design.

This is a beautiful and romantic sword from the Hank Reinhardt Collection. The blade was quite effective for cutting and slashing, and the tip was quite useful for hook thrusts. Made of high-carbon steel by Windlass Steelcrafts®. The hilt is made of wood and the guard and scabbard are made of steel.

The scabbard has a throat, half collar and metal chape.
