Spyderco Caly 35 Carbon Fiber Knife

High performance daily use knife
This knife is a version of the classic and popular Spyderco Calypso model, a knife that has been the inspiration for several versions. With the Caly 3.5 from Spyderco, you will feel that your knife is a natural extension of your hand.

This version is slightly larger than the original Calypso Jr. knife and has a ZDP-189 steel blade and a carbon fiber handle. The blade is locked and unlocked by the Back-Lock system housed in the back of the handle.

The total length of the knife is 19.4 cm when it is open and 10.8 cm when it is closed. The blade – which is shaped like a tree leaf and has a straight profile – measures 8.6 cm, of which the cutting edge – smooth – occupies 7.8 cm.

It has a wire pocket clip that allows to carry the knife only to the right and with the tip upwards.



ZDP-189 steel for knife blades
The blade of the Spyderco Caly 3.5 knife has with a three-layer steel construction. The core is ZDP-189 Japanese powder steel and the other two layers are 420J2 steel, a softer, more pliable steel.

ZDP-189 is a premium Japanese powder metallurgical "super" steel made by Hitachi , hardened between RC 62-67 and with a very high volume of carbides. Together with the S90V, it has one of the best edge retention of steels found in the knife market.
